On 8 February in Arena Torun we will have an amazing spectacle, athletic indoor meeting named the Orlen Copernicus Cup 2020. One of the event that the fans will see is men’s 800m with the medallists of the world and European championships.
The previous year was the most successful for Marcin Lewandowski, who have won the gold medal in the 1500m at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and seven months later have took the bronze at the World Championships in Doha. Lewandowski confirmed his very good shape through the whole season by setting five new national records. At the beginning of his career, Lewandowski competed with successes in the 800m, but he have decided to extend the distance to 1500m. Among his achievements in the 1500m is the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade (2017) and the silver at World Indoor Championships in Birmingham (2018) and the European Championships in Berlin (2018).
Adam Kszczot is the second Poles who will fight for the win at the Orlen Copernicus Cup. Unfortunately the past year wasn’t good for Kszczot, but his achievements are impressive. It suffices to recall the medals from 2018, the gold at World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and the European Championships in Berlin in the 800m. In addition, Kszczot earned the 800m silver medal at the World Championships in London and was beaten by the Frenchman Pierre-Ambroise Bosse.
In Torun we will also see the foreign athlete like Amel Tuka and Andreas Kramer. The first of them represents Bosnia and Herzegovina and is the current silver medallist from Doha in the 800m. He lost with the amazing Donovan Brazier who won with 1:42.34 and the world record. Sweden’s Andreas Kramer was second in the 800m at the European Championships in Berlin, behind Adam Kszczot. Both Tuka and Kramer are the finalists in the 800m at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
The men’s 800m is scheduled as the last event of the Orlen Copernicus Cup. For sure, it will give the audience lots of positive emotions.
